Reminder: Why did we create this blog?

This blog is born out of a moral urgency and a deep need for truth. Incarnate Word – SSVM – Abuse is not a project of hatred or revenge: it is a response to years of silence, cover-up and silenced suffering within the Institute of the Incarnate Word (IVE) and the Servants of the Lord and of the Virgin of Matará (SSVM).

Those of us who have lived or continue to live from the inside the reality of these institutes know first-hand what does not appear on their official pages or in their public speeches: authoritarian practices, psychological control, distorted spirituality, manipulation of consciences, and in many cases, abuses of power, conscience and even sexual abuse.

This blog has two very clear objectives:

  1. Give a voice to those who have not had one. Many people – religious, former members, relatives or close lay people – have experienced pain, confusion and loneliness after their time in the IVE or SSVM. Here we want to offer a space where these stories can be told with respect and freedom.
  2. Provide insights and analysis. Through documents, experiences and reflections, we want to help understand the internal dynamics of these institutes, as well as the mechanisms that allow certain abuses to be perpetuated under an appearance of holiness and ecclesial fidelity. We are also working on a timeline of major events, including the Vatican’s interventions.

This is not an anti-Catholic blog. On the contrary: it is born from fidelity to the Gospel and from the desire for a more luminous, human and true Church. We believe that denouncing what corrupts the Christian message – and especially when it hurts the most vulnerable – is not an attack on the Church, but to contribute to its purification.

If you arrived here with doubts, with wounds, or simply with the need to better understand what happens behind the walls of these institutes, this blog is for you.

And if you arrived convinced that all this is a mistake or an exaggeration, we invite you to read with openness.

Because only the truth – hard, uncomfortable and sometimes painful – makes us truly free.
