Sectarian drifts: document of the French Bishops’ Conference

We publish here a document of the bishops of France on sectarian drifts, by Sr. Chantal-Marie SORLIN, Head of the Office of the Episcopal Conference for Sectarian Drifts, June 2014

Translation by Ana Azanza. Original text in French .

This list of criteria follows a behavioral process in four chronological steps:

    1. The cult of personality

The members of the group feel attracted and grouped around a founder with a complex personality in his career and pretensions…

1.1 The birth of the group

A dysfunction in the discernment of vocations can have dire consequences. Examples abound of candidates for the priesthood rejected in one diocese but accepted in another. The same applies to the recognition of an association of the faithful or a community. Likewise, the Swiss bishops have just recalled this requirement: “when candidates for the priesthood or religious life change their place of formation or community, information must circulate among the directors in a clear and precise manner.”

Decree of suppression of Miles Christi: any resemblance to the IVE/SSVM is purely coincidental

We publish below the decree of suppression of the Miles Christi Institute, issued by the Dicastery for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life. As for the diagnosis of the Holy See that led to the suppression of this institute, it would be enough to change “Miles Christi” to “IVE/SSVM” to see what awaits them if they continue to be so obstinate.

AICA: The Vatican decreed the suppression of the Miles Christi religious institute

We reproduce here the article published by the Argentine Catholic News Agency today, March 6, 2025.

The Dicastery for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life decreed the suppression of the Miles Christi clerical religious institute of diocesan right.

“This decision was specifically approved by Pope Francis on February 6, 2025,” an official statement said.

In this way, the task of Pontifical Commissioner of Monsignor Jorge Ignacio García Cuerva was concluded and the dicastery appointed Monsignor Mauricio Landra, auxiliary bishop of Mercedes-Luján, as pontifical delegate for the execution of the suppression of the institute.

The communication bears the signature of Monsignor Landra.

    Text of the communication

On February 19, 2025, the Dicastery for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life decreed the suppression of the Miles Christi Diocesan Religious Clerical Institute of Diocesan Right.

This decision was specifically approved by Pope Francis on February 6, 2025.

In this way the task of Archbishop Jorge Ignacio García Cuerva as Pontifical Commissioner is concluded, and I have been appointed by the same Dicastery as Pontifical Delegate for the execution of the suppression of the Institute.

We have notified the Institute of this decision today.

Bearing in mind the delicacy and complexity of the situation, in order that everything may be carried out with justice and charity, in order to give effect to the decision taken by the Holy See, we entrust this time to Mary, Mother of the Church.

    Buenos Aires, March 6, 2025.

    Msgr. Mauricio Landra, Pontifical Delegate.+

  • SSVM: more hypocrites, impossible

    SSVM: more hypocrites, impossible

The Mother Co-Redemptrix of the SSVM met last Wednesday in a private audience with Pope Francis to express her dissatisfaction with the visitor appointed by the Vatican. Apparently, the visitor requested space in the generalate to live with her team and assume the functions of government entrusted to her by the Church, which the Mother Co-redemptrix considers an abuse of power.

Obviously, the new administrator wants to work freely. As is public knowledge, the IVE had previously subjected the other commissioners to a series of restrictive actions, checking their correspondence, hacking their computers, listening to their calls and exhausting them to the point that they finished their work quickly just to get out of that situation.

  • Hypocrisy: A Mask of Virtue

    Hypocrisy: A Mask of Virtue

We know that hypocrisy is a term used to describe the attitude of someone who says one thing but does another. As St. Thomas Aquinas mentions, he defines it as “a kind of fraud, which consists in feigning a virtue or a piety that one does not have” (II-II. Q.111.a1). This leads us to reflect on the authenticity and coherence between our words and actions.

In this sense, today we see religious and priests of the IVE praying for Pope Francis, a gesture that may seem to be one of charity and respect. However, there is a historical context that may change our perspective. The relationship between Cardinal Bergoglio and the founder, Carlos Buela, was one of enmity during his stay in Argentina.

Domínguez case: hiding the truth is an act of manipulation; The end does not justify the means

Recently, the resignation of Bishop Domínguez in San Rafael, Mendoza, who held the position of bishop in one of the most important places for the Institute of the Incarnate Word and the Servants of the Lord and the Virgin of Matará, has been announced. In this diocese the founding house and most of the convents are concentrated, in addition to being a close friend of the members of the Word. His sudden resignation, without farewells or notification to his clergy, has generated a stir in the diocese.

According to direct sources, days before his departure, he was formally denounced in the diocese for improper touching of young people, invitations to nudist beaches and other inappropriate behavior.

    Chain of cover-ups

I am Luis María de la Calle; I suffered sexual abuse in the minor seminary of the IVE when I was 12 years old. I denounced everything that happened to the former bishop of San Rafael, Msgr. Taussig, who did the right thing. But I had to present the complaint on my own, I directly to the diocesan bishop, since this duty of the superiors of the IVE in the person of the late Buela and the unpresentable current rector of the same minor seminary in which I suffered the abuse, Fr. Gabriel Zapata, was not done at the time.

  • Is the bishop of San Rafael resigning?

Is the bishop of San Rafael resigning?

After receiving a complaint of sexual harassment of several young people with indecent touching and obscene invitations, Monsignor Carlos María Domínguez, bishop of San Rafael, is about to resign from his position.

Let us remind our readers in remote areas that San Rafael is the episcopal see where the IVE was founded in 1984 and the SSVM in 1988.

Now you can understand why he was so wide with the IVE in recent times… and he took the opportunity to spend time in the seminaries of the IVE with the joyful young vocations.

    Moral:

We advise parents to open the eyes of their children before entering these religious congregations, since the minimum protections that exist in other institutions do not exist here.
