The Mother Co-Redemptrix of the SSVM met last Wednesday in a private audience with Pope Francis to express her dissatisfaction with the visitor appointed by the Vatican. Apparently, the visitor requested space in the generalate to live with her team and assume the functions of government entrusted to her by the Church, which the Mother Co-redemptrix considers an abuse of power.
Obviously, the new administrator wants to work freely. As is public knowledge, the IVE had previously subjected the other commissioners to a series of restrictive actions, checking their correspondence, hacking their computers, listening to their calls and exhausting them to the point that they finished their work quickly just to get out of that situation.
With this trajectory, apparently, the visitor advised them to move to another nearby convent so as not to interfere in their affairs. However, the Mother Co-redemptrix and her relatives lamented this situation to Francis, accusing the visitor of abusing her faculties.
According to sources who were present, Pope Francis asked them to be patient, assuring them that he was aware of everything. However, in the face of their insistent complaints and laments about the visitor’s behavior, which they considered to be exceeding the limits, Francis agreed to speak with her.
In addition, they also wanted to address the situation of Buela’s guilt, but Francis asked them not to touch that issue for now and to let “the dead rest.”
The irony of the situation is obvious. After that meeting in which they felt relieved and hopeful, Pope Francis was hospitalized two days later. Now, the same people who had previously prayed that Bergoglio would not be elected pope, are imploring for his speedy recovery. There are chains of prayer, heroic nights and trips to shrines asking for their recovery…
The situation seems to have taken a more serious turn
Apparently, the SSVM are not only praying for the recovery of Pope Francis, but have also launched an internal campaign to silence any sister who tries to communicate with the visitor.
A nun has been appointed to act as a kind of “watchman” in each community, identifying any sisters who dare to speak or write to the visitor.
Climate of repression
This has generated a climate of fear and repression within the communities, where the sisters are warned to stay away from those who are considered “traitors” for trying to communicate with the visitor or simply thinking differently.
It is ironic that this is done under the pretext of a “spirit of fraternal charity that seeks to save the charism,” when in reality it seems to be a form of control and repression. This raises serious questions about health and transparency within SSVMs.
Worrying course
The situation seems to be taking an increasingly worrying turn. This suggests that the institute is adopting cult-like characteristics, where a select group controls information and selectively transmits it to the rest of the members.
Uniformity of thought and blind loyalty to charisma seem to be the main goals, and any dissent or critical thinking is seen as a threat. The campaign to isolate sisters who think differently or who want to communicate with the Vatican representative is particularly disturbing.
In addition, they are collecting funds to finance the clandestine trips of the superiors to different countries to “transmit information” to the sisters and prevent them from “dispersing from the flock.” This raises serious questions about the health and transparency within this institute and about the possibility that the rights and autonomy of the sisters are being violated.
Encouragement to the auditors
We regret all the vicissitudes that the new authorities sent by the Vatican will have to face to carry out this arduous task, but when heads are corrupted, it is very difficult for the rest not to be contaminated!
